#51 Brothers

Maybe you'll like this one Uncle Pete? It's some blues-rock by a great duo, The Black Keys. I've been listening to this since I first heard it, and once again, It's produced by Danger Mouse. What doesn't this guy do? This is music in highest quality. If you don't like this, I don't know what's wrong with you. Maybe nothing, but probably something.

This is one of their 6 albums, all worth listening to. This one is great though, because Danger Mouse's production value really shows. If you don't know who Danger Mouse is, google it, because he's worked on some good stuff. All of the Black Key's music is wonderful, but start with this album.

The sound of it is unmatched. Not many albums are this appealing. So, sit back, relax, and just enjoy the greatness that is this album. (Even though they are from the worst state ever)

Forbes List Rating: Love It

The Black Keys - Ohio

#50 Broken Bells

Album review #2? I think so. This album is the self-titled album Broken Bells. The band is made up of the legendary Danger Mouse and the guitarist and singer of The Shins, James Mercer. An amazing artist from one of the great bands of our time, with one of the greatest producers ever, if you ask me, makes Broken Bell's debut album a must listen.

I first heard about this around the time it came out from my buddy Wade. What's good Wade? I was surprised that so many people haven't heard this, especially people that are Danger Mouse fans. It seems that it slipped under the radar a little bit somehow.

Well, I'm here to tell you that this album is something you should listen to, no matter who you are. If you're a fan of Danger Mouse or The Shins, you'll love this. Even if you're a fan of The Black Keys (foreshadow) or a hip-hop head, I think you can appreciate this.

They also had 4 young kids listen to every song and critique it. Definitely entertaining to watch. I wish I was one of them. (video below)

Forbes List Rating: Must Listen, Twice

#49 Big Nut Bust

Big Sean is on this track with Travis Barker. Similar to Travis' upcoming CD Give The Drummer Some is his mixtape hosted by DJ Whoo Kid called Let The Drummer Get Wicked. Big Sean sounds like Soulja Boy here and it sucks, but of course Travis Barker adds some solid beats just like always. I wish Royce was rapping on this.

Big Sean - Big Nut Bust

#48 Cage The Elephant

How about some Rock n Roll? This band Cage The Elephant said in an interview they they play whatever they feel like playing. They weren't lying. Most of the stuff I've listened to from them sounds great, finally some good rock because I really hate some of the rock people listen to now. All I've really heard from Elephant is the songs they make music videos for, I checked out a live show, not for me. So here's a little taste.

If you like it, good. If you don't, too bad.

#47 MBDTF

First of all, shout-out to the readers from Denmark and Croatia. Much love.

Kanye West. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. You've heard about the man, you've heard about the album. I hadn't really given it a listen until recently, and I was impressed. People I talked to said it was decent, but nothing amazing. I disagree. I actually thought it was amazing. It's not the greatest rapping ever. Kanye's bars on this don't compare to most of Andre 3000's stuff, or Tupac and Biggie, but if you take his really good lyrics and amazing production, you get a product that doesn't come around very often.

I think Kanye is absolutely insane, and getting crazier by the day, but if he keeps this music up, who cares? Deep down inside, I'm actually hoping we see something epic from him, like Michael Jackson or Prince type craziness. Who wouldn't want to grow up with a story like that evolving?

Anyway, I guess that's my first "album review". It was long over-due for this one.  Do yourself a favor and listen to it if you haven't already. Watch the movie he made with it too. Kanye is a musical genius. (too much?)

Forbes List Rating: Epic

#46 Anyone But Him

Mr. Hudson makes music I always enjoy for some reason. Sometimes I don't like his voice, but I always get over it. This song isn't that new at all, but the video just came out and it's Kanye, and it's a pretty good video.

#45 Yes!

This is exactly what I said when I heard about this song! YES! is a new colab between Datsik and Bassnectar. Whoa. I haven't even listened to it, but I'm frantically typing because I want to get my laptop to my speakers. Don't listen to this song from a laptop or cheap headphones, I know the wompage will be too much. This song is about to womp my face off.

Bassnectar & Datsik - YES!

#44 Strangers

I'm hoping this song will make you hate Monday a little less. I didn't do any work of any sort over break, so if you're like me, you're a little bit fucked now. Listen to this and forget about all the work you have to do tonight, and just think, I'm still procrastinating.

Young Man - Strangers

#43 Come Die With Me

If you haven't heard of the Cunninlynguists, you better google them. This is a new joint from Kno of the group. It's called Le Petite Mort. The video is great and this guy is a seriously good rapper. Check it.

#42 Good To Me

Duck Sauce! and Louis La Roche. I don't know that second one either, but DUCK SAUCE. Well here's the new one called Good To Me. Not as good as Barbra Streisand but it's not really a disappointment.

#41 BlaccFriday

Odd Future strikes again. MellowHype, Tyler, and Mike G made a song called BlaccFriday. I know it's Monday, but better late than never, right?

MellowHype, Tyler, and Mike G - BlaccFriday

#40 Trunk Muzik 0-60

Up to 40 already? Cool. I wrote about Yelawolf before and his new CD Trunk Muzik 0-60 is finally out. This is a video or him explaining where he came from and his reasons behind starting to make music. If this doesn't want to make you get his CD, you are crazy. Love this dude.

#39 CURT@!N$

CURT@!N$. Definitely a unique name, and music to go with it. I just found out about this Amp Energy Artist Profile Series thing. If the first one is any indication, they are all going to be great.

#38 Left Overs

This mixtape is everywhere right now, and for good reason. OnCue really did well on this tape. Definitely worth downloading if you haven't from somewhere else already.

DOWNLOAD THIS HERE. BITCHES.

#37 Mighty Mystic

Staying with the reggae theme, Mighty Mystic was an artist I recently came across. He grew up in Jamaica but now lives in Boston. Wicked Cool. His new CD, probably not his first is called Wake Up The World. I absolutely love it. It's got a hip-hop feel and some bars mixed in with great reggae music.

Mighty Mystic - Firetown

Mighty Mystic - Revolution

Mighty Mystic - Check The Vibe

#36 Wild & Free

So in case you didn't know, I think Ziggy Marley is more awesome that Barney Stinson. Anyone get that? Maybe? No? Whatever. Well for those of you that live under a rock, Ziggy Marley is one of Bob's sons. He has like 30 so it's not that amazing, but his music is. He's being real awesome now too because he's giving away new singles for free on his website. http://www.ziggymarley.com/music-discography-wildandfree.php This is his second one called A Fire Burns For Freedom.

Also, +1 to Ziggy for being bros with the President.

Ziggy Marley - A Fire Burns For Freedom

#35 Coffee and Snow

So 2 years ago, a group called Blue Scholars made this video and song, because it snowed. That's cool. This year, wherever they are, it snowed again. Good thing because we got another song and video. Since most people haven't seen the first one, I'll post both. Enjoy.

#34 Sing and Flow

How did I not find out about this sooner. I guess John Legend forgot to text me or something. That's alright John, just let me know next time. For those of you out of the loop, like me, he made a free EP with Estelle, called Sing and Flow. Here's one song, couldn't figure out how to get all of them on here, sorry.

Here's the link to get the rest. CLICK ME!!!!!

#33 Palookas

Here's the new Kweli song. I'm assuming this is from his next project Gutter Rainbows.

Talib Kweli - Palookas

#32 Flying Overseas

Theophilus London, you might recognize this guys name because he's been featured on stuff. Yeah, stuff, stuff I can't think of right now. Here's his new music video called Flying Overseas.

And here's his other single

Theophilus London - Humdrum Town Just listened to this now, I love it.

#31 SALVO!

So you have probably heard this song called Home by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, either from the NFL commercial that I love, or just because this song is awesome.

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros - Home

Well, this post ain't about that song, well it kinda is, but this band made a 12-part music video movie thing called Salvo. As far as I know, only 2 parts have been released, but let me tell you, this thing is going to be fucking sweet. That's all I really know about it. If part 3 ever comes out, I'll let you know.
Seriously, watch these.

#30 Anchorless

Guess who's back. Me.
DJ MJ is also joining the team. What kind of dumb name is that?

Well this band Anchorless is from Copenhagen. You probably haven't heard them before unless you live in Europe or something, but I just downloaded their LP for free HERE. (Click on it fool) They remind me a little bit of Modest Mouse. Whatever, just listen to it and see if you like it.

Achorless - A Step Too Steep

#29 Some Studying Jams

I'm sick of studying, so here's what I listen to when I do study in case you were wondering.

Band of Horses - Part One

Ben Harper - Burn One Down

Bob Marley - Redemption Song

Crowded House - Four Seasons In One Day

Dispatch - Bang Bang

Grateful Dead - Touch of Grey

Iron & Wine - Boy With A Coin

Keane - Somewhere Only We Know

Ratatat - Mahalo

Tea Leaf Green - Papa's In The Back Room

Well that was good procrastinating. Adios. Time to get back to work.

#28 Pilot Talk 2

Pilot Talk 2 comes out tomorrow! I'm excited to jam to this and cram for my bio exam. Go cop a copy for you, yo girl, yo car, yo girls car, and another one just because.

#27 Nyle

This guy Nyle is great. He loves music and you can tell. I first heard this guy when I saw this video. It's a bunch of people from his school playing Let The Beat Build and it's all shot in one take. I forget where I first saw this but it's really entertaining. Listening to this guys other music I found out this kid is amazing. One of my favorite artists already. His first mixtape Frosh is a great mixtape with some good lines and great beats, but his 2nd was the one that really caught my eye. His band plays covers of popular rock songs and he covers them. He is awesome. Since then, he has a new EP called Capstone. This guy is great. Here's the video, followed by all his projects. Seriously, check out all of it. There's another Jack Johnson sample in there too, if you can find it.       www.nyleraps.com

#26 Corpses

I don't know much about these guys who call themselves The Foodchain, but they are from Colorado, Denver I think, and they just released a new CD called Corpses which is awesome. It's some great rap with some good features too, including the great Talib Kweli. Listen to this song. If you like it, buy the CD, trust me.

Reverse Psychology

You liked it didn't you? Go listen to more fool.

#25 All She Wrote

I wasn't going to put this up, just because I didn't feel like it. I think Mark Jay would have stopped reading this if I didn't though. Definitely a good song from T.I. and Eminem here. Worth listening to, worth downloading, but not here because I don't know anything about copy write laws and I'm not trying to go to jail yet or anything.

T.I. feat. Eminem - All She Wrote

#24 Plume Giant

So I'm reading a bunch of music blogs like usual, (basenuggets) and I come across a website I'm sure most of you know www.goodmusicallday.com I see they posted this song by a band called Plume Giant, and I pretty much flipped out. I saw these guys playing at a sandwich/coffee shop on Yale's campus a few years ago. I even have a CD they were giving out free somewhere. I guess they are finally starting to catch on over there. Good job finding these guys GoodMusic, and good job sticking with your music Plume Giant.

It's a unique sound with a guitar, violin, and viola. I'm not even going to pretend I know what a viola actually is but it sounds good. Just sit back, relax, wait for this cold weather to go away, and listen to this. I'll be honest, I totally forgot about these guys and wouldn't be writing this without goodmusicallday. I'm not going to forget them again though, that's for true.

Plume Giant - Fool Hall

If I ever find that CD I'll be sure to put a couple more songs up, but for now, enjoy.

#23 Secret Of The Green Magic

So this guy Thee Tom Hardey released a new mixtape and got signed by 9th Wonder (kind of a big deal). This kid's got some good music and you know he's got good beats if he's with 9th Wonder. It's called The Hardy Boy Mystery Mixtape and it's definitely worth checking out. Besides 9th Wonder's name, he has got some other good ones on this too, Donnis, Yelawolf, Skyzoo. Give it a listen.

Tom Hardy feat. Yelawolf - Take Em To...

Tom Hardy feat. Slimm Calhoun - Gibraltar Rock

In other news, I signed on 919 Oakland today. The last home game is tomorrow. And I'm going to fail this exam on Monday.
Thanks for reading.

NEW TUPAC AND BIGGIE SONG!

tricked you

#22 E-Dubble

I'm sure many of you have come across this before, but this dude E-Dubble releases a self produced freestyle every Friday. This is his 43rd week. That's all I know about him, so that's all I'm going to write.

e-dubble - New Trouble

#21 Donavon Frankenreiter

Well, one of my favorite musicians ever is playing in the area tonight and I'm not going. And yes, I am upset about it.

My Donavon Frankenreiter CD was in my car's CD player as long as I was driving it. It is actually probably still in there because my dad doesn't really know how to work the thing. This guy makes music everyone can enjoy. He's like a funkier version of Jack Johnson, not to mention they are great friends and make lots of music together. This guys also got mad flow and a fat lip caterpillar (mustache ride anyone?). I just can't help but love this guys music, and I'm sure you will find the same thing.
Below are two songs, one off of his CD Move By Yourself and the other was his first hit song that you've all probably heard but never realized it with Jack called Free.

Anyone have an extra ticket for tonight by any chance? I'd love you forever.

Donavon Frankenreiter - Move By Youself

Donavon Frankenreiter & Jack Johnson - Free

I got another good one coming up next, stay tuned....  Don't feel like writing it up now.

#20 OFWGKTA

So this group of rappers from LA call themselves Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All. The dudes names are Tyler The Creator, Hodgy Beats, Earl Sweatshirt, Domo Genesis, Mike G, Left Brain, The Super 3, Syd tha Kyd, Jasper Loc, and Taco Bennett. They have released 3 mixtapes and 7 solo albums all for free at www.oddfuture.com. I'm just going to stop writing because I don't do these guys enough justice. They might me the future of hip-hop and are hella swagged out.  Just check em out. I can't even decide what songs to throw up. This will have to do. Sorry OFWGKTA, I'll try harder next time.

MellowHype & Tyler, The Creator - Fuck The Police

MellowHype & Mike G - Loaded

Left Brain - Lisa

EarlWolf - Orange Juice

Oh and they take a lot of cool pictures. http://golfwang.tumblr.com/

Ok seriously, I'm not posting anymore until after my exam on Monday.
If only I could do this for a living.
Thanks to everyone who's been checking it out. I've been getting mad love and can't thank you all enough.

#19 Barbra Streisand

What business does Barbra Streisand have on this blog, you might ask. Absolutely none. A song just came on my iTunes that I need to share with you. It's by Duck Sauce. Duck Sauce? Yeah, Duck Sauce. A group consisting of, once again, my favorite DJ ever, A-Trak and his homeboy/very accomplished DJ Armand Van Helden. They just got together and are already making great music. This song is #1 on the charts overseas, hop on board America. Yeah there's an advertisement before the video, just power through it. It's worth it, trust me.

+1 to the Calgary Flames for using this as their goal song.

Also here's a sweet picture of A-Trak. I'm in here about 3 people from the front. I don't think I've stopped dancing since this night.

#18 Beast Mode

I'm definitely in beast mode right now. That's all I wanted to say.

Actually I wanted to show you all this video. B.o.B went back to the Bob that I loved a long time ago. (see Haters Everywhere) Not that his new stuff isn't good, I just like Bob's beast mode better I guess. This is a preview to his new mixtape No Genre (December 7). Check it out.

Now I have to go beast on these bio notes. Yeah right...

#17 Ellie Goulding

I was thinking about only putting new music on the homepage, and older stuff that I though you should hear on the pages, but this is worth writing about.

Ellie Goulding has been playing regularly on my iPod for a while now. Ever since I heard her song Starry Eyed off her amazing album Lights, I've been hooked. It's a great electro-pop type song, but I love her voice too. I don't know what to say about it, but if you don't like this song, I might not like you. Then I heard she did a cover of my absolute favorite Elton John song. I wasn't sure how anyone could cover something as great as Your Song, but she did a great job. Here's both, plus a Jakwob dubstep remix to Starry Eyed that I like.

Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed
Ellie Goulding - Your Song

Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed (Jakwob Remix)

#16 All Day

Sooo, I guess there's a new Girl Talk CD out now. I don't really have time to listen to it, so I can't write much about it. I used to be a huge mash-up fan, but I grew out of it a little. I found myself recognizing the songs in the mash-up then just wanting to listen to the original ones. Though, I've always enjoyed Girl Talk, so the new CD is called All Day. Go listen to it if you want. I will eventually, just after these exams I should be studying for.

*Pretend I Put A Song Here*

Sorry, just really busy.

#15 Whatever You Say I Am

First of all, I might take a break from this to move to a bigger, better hosting site. Idea credited to Chris Ostrowski because I still don't really know what I'm doing.

Second, this band called Mariage Blanc is not well know. Well, not really known at all, but get to know them. A very full sounding bands that I've been jamming out to a lot lately. It's one of those band that you're convinced you've heard before, but you really haven't. Or maybe you have? It's not my job to say, just my job to listen, and I'm pretty good at it.

#14 Daddy's Lambo

I'm not sure how many of you know about Yelawolf, but this song dropped a couple days ago. This guy is pretty unique, like an Alabama hip-hop Travis Barker, but I think this guy can really spit and has a big future if he hooks up with the right people. This beat is nice too. It was actually made by Drama. You might know him as Rob Dyrdek's little brother from Rob & Big. Yeah, that's him. Well anyway, give it a listen.

Yelawolf - Daddy's Lambo

#13 Boombox

Now I know Dubstep isn't everyone's cup of tea, but It's definitely in my cupboard. Man I'm not actually funny Anyway, I'm going to try not to overload this blog with one type of music, because I could definitely just post some dirty dub or conscious hip-hop all day long. So, onto the track, this is a remix of Bassnectar's track Boombox by one of my favorite dubstep artists, Datsik. My other favorite is Excision, you'll know him if you keep reading the blog. This song is actually filthy by itself, then Datsik remixes it? I don't even know what to say, just let it womp.

#12 Wake Up

This is only my second day, and this post is still long overdue. John Legend teams up with the greatest thing since sliced bread, aka The Roots. Everything about this album is great: John Legend's voice and piano, Questlove's drums, the fact that it's The Roots! I'll be honest, I've been busy and haven't even finished listening to the album, but I have no doubts that this is going to be one of my favorites. Here's the video for a great single called Wake Up Everybody. It's a cover of an old old song (1975) that I know nothing about, but this is perfect. If I knew how, I'd put up a link to buy the album. I'll work on that.
Support The Roots people, please.

John Legend, The Roots, Common - Wake Up Everybody

#11 I Need A Doctor

Dre is still one of the best producers out there, and he shows it with this track. It's a great beat, and Em has some pretty good lines on it too. It doesn't seem like the Dr. is the same rapper he used to be, but hearing him is like a nice breath of fresh air. Definitely the Detox track I was looking for.

Dre feat. Em - I Need A Doctor

#10 Hey You

I promise this isn't going to be a hip-hop blog, whether you like it or not. There is going to be a lot of hip-hop on it because there's a lot of it out there and I listen to it, but you're going to get more. How about this track from a band called Pony Pony Run Run called Hey You. This band prides themselves on listening and being influenced by everything they've ever listened to, which makes them unique. I like it.

*I also learned how to put my music on here, no more youtube! Don't hold me too that though, I might mess up.*

Pony Pony Run Run - Hey You

That's It for a while. Stats exam Thursday, Bio exam Monday and Orgo exam Tuesday.

Thanks to everyone who checked it out today. I got a lot of good feedback and I'm really excited about it. I got over 120 views the first day which is pretty cool.
Much Love, Reid

#9 Detox?

Dr. Dre announced his album Detox back in April... of 2002. He's had countless release date and rumors surrounding the whole thing. Nobody ever thought it was going to come out, but here is what is apparently the first single. I don't think it's anything special, but its new Dre so I had to put it up right?

Kush - Dr. Dre feat. Snoop Dogg, Akon

#8 Cold Rain

Talib Kweli has been one of my favorites since I heard him back in... I don't know 6th grade? Anyway, this is the first song from his new project titled Gutter Rainbows (January 25th). This song is amazing, and I'm sure the rest of the album will be too.

#7 Gratefully D.E.A.D.

Man, I like this blogging thing. Here's what might be my favorite mash-up tape ever. Two of my favorite artists, the great Notorious B.I.G. and The Grateful Dead, are featured on here. I don't think it could get any better. Also, the cover art is bad ass.

Also still trying to figure out a better way to put the actual songs on here. Maybe with a download link. Don't give up on me.

#6 M.i - Jack Johnson Sessions

Come on, who doesn't like Jack Johnson? That's right, everybody likes him. Especially this dude M.i
Who is he? I don't know, but I like this mixtape a lot. Download it if you're looking for something to chill out with. Don't trust me enough to download it right away? Fine, here the YouTube so you can listen to it first, the download link is after it.

#5 Ray Ban Vision

A-Trak is hands down my favorite DJ. Everything he touches is amazing. He used to be Kanye's DJ but he's doing his own thing now. His label, Fool's Gold, just released a CD with a lot of music from the label called Fool's Gold Vol. 1. My favorite song off the CD is called Ray Ban Vision, A-Trak feat. CyHi Da Prynce

#4 Give The Drummer Some

Travis Barker decided to make his own project. Many people probably love Travis from Blink-182, many people probably hate Travis from Blink-182 also. In my opinion, he is in the top 2 drummers alive, only matched by Questlove of The Roots, but Travis is taking over. His new CD called Give The Drummer Some (February 2011) has all my favorite artists on it. Travis' nasty beats teamed up with the likes of Lil' Wayne, The Game, Rick Ross, RZA, Raekwon, Swizz Beats, B.o.B., and so many more. He's going over the top with this too, making a music video for every song (One in 3D). Here's the first 2, and I'll be sure to post the other ones as soon as they are released.

UPDATE: Cudi may also be on the CD? Win.

Jump Down feat. THE COOL KIDS
I love the Cool Kids by the way

Carry It feat. Tom Morello, RZA, and Raekwon
(visit www.travisbarker.com for the video)

EDIT: I seriously have to stop posting music. I have exams and I need to go to the library.

#3 Super Lupe Rap

Lupe Fiasco

One of my favorite rappers ever, for good reason. If any of you know anything about him, you're also impatiently waiting for Lasers to be released. Good news, no Lasers is not out yet, but he did release 2 new songs, which I think are going to be on the CD. (don't quote me on that though)
Once again I'm new to this, so deal with these youtube videos until I figure everything out.

The first is called The Show Goes On where he sampled Modest Mouse's Float On. What a hipster.

The other is called SLR or Super Lupe Rap. He goes off in this one. I can't argue with him.
"Top 5 alive and I only got 2 out."

^This one is better.

#2 The Green

A new reggae band. I don't have much to say about them, except for I love it. Doesn't get much better than this if you ask me.

The Green - What Will Be Will Be

^^Hey look what I did (Thanks to my all-time favorite music blog HillyDilly)

Want more? You should. 4 Free songs from The Green.

#1 What Am I Doing?

So I realize now that I have no idea what I'm doing. How do I put music up? How do I share videos? Can you download the music? All questions I don't have answers to. Whatever, let the show begin.

Jay Electronica

This man is amazing, but hates putting out new music or something... until now. He teamed up Jay-Z and is now an official Roc Nation member. He then released two songs in two days. (A new record for him) And if you ask me, they are great. I also added my favorite track by him at the end, just because most people haven't heard of this guy for some odd reason.

UPDATE: He said on his twitter that shiny suit theory is actually over 7 minutes long. I can't wait for the whole thing.

Sorry, YouTube is the best I can do right now. Bear with me, I'm learning.
Also, no one knows about this yet, so I'm not worried.
Well, my first post. Will anyone read this? Probably not, but we'll see.

There are so many music blogs out there, some good, some bad. I started this one because of a friend's suggestion. I thought why not? I just procrastinate my work anyway, so there's no reason I couldn't do this instead of read MGoBlog, and Rivals 10 times per day. What kind of music am I going to share with you, you ask? Whatever I feel like really. My goal is to always share good music though, so run and tell your friends and family because The Forbes List has begun.
